Contracts Manager Sandra Tharumalingam Willmer has joined illustrator agency Bright Group International’s London office.

Tharumalingam Willmer whose official title at Bright is Global Contracts Manager, reports directly to F.D. Eamonn O’Domhnaill. She will be overseeing all contracts for the group and working closely with all agents and finance.

She will assist Bright in reviewing and updating contracts across the group for their artists as well as improving the overall contractual service Bright offers their artists and clients to ensure contractual integrity and compliance. Her joining Bright also comes at a time that offers great support as m.d. Vicki Willdren-Lebrecht transitions through her maternity time.

Tharumalingam Willmer was previously Senior Business Affairs Manager at Walker Books and has worked in Contracts at The Random House Group, Hachette and SAGE Publications Ltd. Her move to the Bright Group is her first working for an agency after many years working for publishers across children’s, adult trade and academic/STM publishing.

“Having worked on the publisher side of the publishing contracts equation, I’m excited by this wonderful new opportunity for me to finally work for the artists and their best interests alongside their agents,” she said. “Bright offers a unique blend of exceptional artist and author care with forward-thinking entrepreneurial rights management.  The challenge of how to reconcile the best possible contractual terms for our artists across innovative new ventures is inspiring at this transitional time in the publishing and multimedia industries. Working with such incredibly talented and intelligently creative individuals, both the artists and authors and their agents here at Bright is a great privilege.”

Bright’s Non-Executive Board member Richard Scrivener, who focusses on brand licensing and media opportunities for the Agency, said “Sandra’s arrival is super timely as Bright embarks on a number of new exciting initiatives in the film, TV and stage arenas – with a particular emphasis on ensuring Bright and its clients are placed at the creative core of each project.”

Bright chairman Amanda Wood said “we are delighted to welcome Sandra to the ever-expanding Bright team. We hope her wealth of experience will help us deliver an even better service to our artists in the areas of contract negotiation and royalty reporting.”
