Making The Bright Calendar 2017

In true Bright tradition, we have produced two beautifully designed calendars, showing off the best in children’s illustration and art licensing design.

Much thought, creativity and organisation goes into the final product and we are so proud of our designs for 2017.

The Art Licensing calendar (above) for 2017, which features artwork by Maya Ish Shalom on the cover.

The Bright Publishing calendar for 2017, featuring an illustration from The Storm Whale in Winter, by Benji Davies on the cover.

They’ve arrived!

We particularly love the addition here of all the characters from books by Bright artists, including Jorge Martin, Yasmeen Ismail, Tom Knight, Marta Kissi, Sue Hendra & Paul Linnet, Fiona Woodcock and Jarvis.

And on the back; Nicola O’Byrne, Laura Hughes, David Litchfield and Benji Davies.

The Creative Process

Our designer, Jamie Cross is the man behind the calendar. Bright agents work together to come up with artists to represent the whole spectrum of style and genre at Bright, and then the final edit is a collaboration between Jamie, Bright founder and MD Vicki Willden-Lebrecht, and Senior Art Licensing agent Hannah Curtis.

Some of the images selected are from unpublished titles, and so permission must be granted in order for us to use them. It’s a fantastic way of previewing books due to be published¬†in 2017, and gives you a good idea of what to look out for in bookshops over the coming year.

With thanks to all the Publishers and Artists who have given us permissions to use their work.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Bright!
