A Day In The Life Of Tracy Cottingham
Since no longer having to do a school run, (my sons are both at secondary school now, only a 5 minute walk away) my mornings have become slightly more relaxing. But I do still get up early-ISH and try and get those household chores done before sitting down to work.
I used to work in the kitchen but found the temptations of the biscuit cupboard too great…so have banished myself upstairs where it is a lot easier to concentrate!
I love my workspace and could stay working up there forever, but I have to stop at 3.30 so that I can become taxi driver to my younger son who has to be taken to his various sporting activities after school. But fear not, I go back up to work in the evenings and don’t feel too guilty especially when there is football on TV!
Behind me is my book collection where I get much of my inspiration. I collect vintage children’s books and books on art from around the world.
I also have a great collection of vintage greetings cards; these are some of the children’s designs.
The nearest thing we have to a pet is our friendly neighbourhood squirrel who comes every day and insists on jumping up onto the bird feeder and raiding the nuts put out for the birds
Since graduating in Textile Design I have worked in many areas of design and when my boys were at junior school I took on the job of renovating the school toilets with my murals, which was great fun (if a little bit smelly) but the results looked great!
I joined Bright quite recently and have already sold some of my designs, which is very exciting. Long may it continue!
