Today is the first day of the Brand Licensing Europe (BLE) event! Over 2,200 brands, characters and images will be on display for all of Europe’s retailers, buyers and creators to see. The event gives companies the opportunity to meet face-to-face and license their work into the right market throughout the globe. The event is always buzzing, be it through great meetings or the constant flow of branded characters roaming throughout the aisles, stopping for pictures along the way.
Bright is very excited to partake in the BLE this year. The chance to network, create and develop relationships is a large part of Bright Art Licensing’s livelihood, so it’s always lovely to spend time at great events. Our agents will be working hard over the next few days to bring exposure to our amazing artists. As the markets for art licensing expands, we are keen to stay up-to-date in the industries of greeting cards, stationary, household items, clothing and more!
At BLE 2013, Bright will be showcasing new portfolio sheets for all of our artists. We are beyond excited to show off the hard work that each individual artist has put in preparing for the event. Having new artwork to showcase makes the event ever more thrilling! As a little teaser, here are three portfolio sheets that will be on display at the event – greatly representing Bright Art Licensing.
Born in the north of England, Lola relocated to London following her BA Hons in Illustration. “I needed to go somewhere more vibrant, and besides, the weather is better down here [in London],” Lola says. She began her career in the fashion industry, designing children’s wear, before moving into the greeting card industry. Before coming to Bright, Lola worked in cards for over nine years as an in-house Senior Artist, winning industry awards for her work.
After a horrible experience with a school play at the age of eight, Dan made the decision to do work that kept him out of the limelight. However, his strong and quirky illustrations may make that hard to do. “My skills extend to humour, optical illusion and visual trickery,” he says. His artwork at the BLE this year will display the truth in that statement.
Living in a quiet Cambridgeshire village, Jo is currently pursuing her MA in Children’s Illustration. She has been in the illustration and licensing industry for over 20 years, working with clients such as The BBC, Harper Collins, Faber & Faber, Orion, Woman’s Own, Heinemann Books, The Sunday Times Style Magazine and Atelier-To-Go. “I constantly strive to push my work to new levels and explore different media,” Jo says.
If you make it to the BLE this week, please stop by our stand! We are located at stall J29. We would love to meet with you, chat about your artists and sign up a new licensing deal.
