Bright signs Jason Cockcroft
‘It’s not everyday that you get one of the most famous children’s book jacket illustrators enquiring about how Bright works.’
– Vicki Willden-Lebrecht
Best known for his Harry Potter covers,Jason Cockcroft’s illustration career spans 15 years where he has worked for all the major publishers in the UK and the US, including work for advertising campaigns and licensing. Winning the Blue Peter Award for his work on Geraldine McCaughrean’s re-telling of ‘Pilgrim’s Progress’, Jason has also been nominated for the Kate Greenaway award, with exhibitions in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and London.
Despite being known for a specific style, Jason has not limited himself to fiction, developing his own traditional and picture book styles, and his writing which we are delighted to be showcasing at Bright.
‘I want to work across as many different platforms, genres and markets as possible, including licensing and editorial work. I’m an illustrator, a designer and a writer.’
– Jason Cockcroft
With extraordinary painting skills, and an emotive style that has both atmosphere and light, Jason’s traditional artwork is beautiful. We have briefed him on the new trends in water colour, retro and nostalgic styles and we are excited to launch at Frankfurt.
New Style From Jason
Jason also has two digital style he is also developing with us – one fun and the other soft. Despite working digitally, Jason’s experience with traditional mediums brings an understanding of softness, character and relationships into his art, giving it a warmth and familiarity that’s unusual for digital.

a final word from us…
When we met Jason, he stunned us with his humility. Despite enjoying, ‘crazy, exciting success’, he remains grounded and appreciative of what he has achieved. Bright is looking to his future, bringing new ambitions and direction. Jason is a true talent that is both awe-inspiring to be around, and very exciting to represent.
