Daredevil Specs & Doodle Sandwiches – Our BEST Storytime Sunday so far
With four consecutively sold out events this year so far, Storytime Sunday at The Doodle Bar has become an incredibly popular opportunity for young fans to interact with their creative heroes. Along with a record number of attendees, June Storytime with author/illustrators Charlie Alder and Laura Hughes had glowing feedback from parents, who all commented on the accessibility & drive in discoverability that Storytime Sunday has established.
Charlie Alder kicked off the two hour event with a hilarious reading of her author/illustrated Daredevil Duck (Running Press) – and what better to follow, but ensuring every child feel like a daredevil with their very own pair of daredevil specs! The Bright creative doodled alongside her young fans, helping to customise masks & daredevil puppets – as well as signing a vast number of books.
Laura Hughes took our second hour of Storytime with her recently published Daddy’s Sandwich (Written by Pip Jones, published by Faber & Faber). Everyone joined in on fabulous post-fathersday fun including an exclusive reading of her book, discussing weird & wonderful sandwich facts, signing books and doodling alongside Laura to create amazing – and bizarre – lunches on paper.
To finish the morning, the lights were dimmed and every child eagerly awaited one go their favourite parts of Storytime – an episode of Sue Hendra‘s Wanda and the Alien! (Random House, Komixx Entertainment)
