Since 2008, the Roald Dahl Funny Prize has been celebrating great children’s literature. The organisation aims to promote ‘laughter and humour as a feel-good factor when reading’. By doing so they want to draw attention to the funny books on the market, proving that reading is enjoyable! The Roald Dahl Funny Prize recognises and rewards authors and illustrators who create books using humour.

The Prize is divided into two categories:

  • The funniest book for children aged six and under
  • The funniest book for children aged seven to fourteen

Like last year, at least 200 school children from around the UK will play a part in the judging process. Each participating school will receive the shortlisted books, giving them the chance to read and discuss before voting for the funniest book in their relevant age category . The students’ votes will be combined with those of the official judging panel to find the two winning books for 2013.

The winner of both categories will be announced
on Tuesday 10 December 2013 – so watch this space!
