Sue Hendra’s SOLD OUT Storytime Sunday is a Hit!
The second Storytime collaboration between Bright and unique event space The Doodle Bar saw multi-award winning and 7th biggest UK selling Author Illustrator Sue Hendra leading a feast of creative activities for a crowd of avid fans. This was another successful Bright event and the second in a string of outstanding Storytime Sundays, that take books beyond the deal and drive discoverability for our artists and their assets.
The event was SOLD OUT in a week!
The free 2 hour event started with hilarious readings from both best selling Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell (Simon & Schuster) and Sue’s newly animated Wanda and the Alien (Random House). As a seasoned children’s event attendee, Sue was as passionate and energetic as ever to act out the spreads from her books (along with trusty side kick, Wanda!) and it goes without saying that the children were totally absorbed by the first hand opportunity to meet their favourite author illustrator.
After the hilarious readings, the kids were raring to make their own characters at the craft table. Sue walked them through alien finger puppets (equipped with googly eyes) and smiley norman slugs – needless to say the adults were enthusiastic to get stuck in too! Each child was also given the opportunity to doodle on their favourite characters, help Norman through a maze, complete NoBot’s body and draw all over the vast black board wall that The Doodle Bar is famous for.
An array of colourful merchandise was available to buy on the day and Sue’s small fans took the opportunity to get their own copies signed by the author illustrator herself!
Bright would like to thank Sue Hendra for her time and enthusiasm (and her daughter Wanda!), both Simon and Schuster & Random House for all their input, but most importantly to the childen and parents who attended and showed such love for Sue Hendra’s books.
We would also like to thank Ada Grey who helped at this event and is preparing for her own Storytime Sunday next month!
