The Smart Upstart Club – A Unique Workshop For Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Launching this June: The Smart Upstart Club

Friday 5 June, 16:00 – 19:00

The Institute of Directors, 116 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5ED

An event for Millenials, Gen Y, and anyone who wants advice on starting or growing their own business, from entrepreneurs who have created their own enterprises. Staged by engagement advisor John Smythe of Engage for Change, prompted by the fact that his 22-year-old daughter Rosie was unable to find resources on or offline about taking the leap to launching her own enterprise.

The Institute of Directors have generously provided the space for the event.

The late afternoon workshop will provide relevant, realistic and honest advice to Gen Y and above on starting their own business, with up to 15 entrepreneurs presenting brief TED-style two-minute slots followed by conversations in the crowd to hone questions and the opportunity to quiz the panel.

One of the 15 chosen entrepreneurs is our very own Bright Managing Director & Founder, Vicki Willden-Lebrecht. 12 years ago, Vicki set up Bright Group International from her flatshare in Clapham, and since then the numbers speak for themselves: the company now has four set divisions and last year the agency recorded turnover just shy of £3m. However, it is Vicki’s passion to ensure artists are valued, respected & rewarded for their talents that fuels her desire to succeed. This mission has turned reality in the last decade of expanding the agency, managing global rights & sitting on the board of the AOI.

As the founder of a global illustration and literary agency, with international offices & and the Bright Emporium set to open this year, Vicki’s own advice on start ups is invaluable.

Tickets are priced £10 (includes refreshments/cash bar available) and can be purchased via Eventbrite HERE.
