What Bright USA is Thankful For!
As 2016 draws to a close, we at Bright USA are reflecting on what a great year it has been in children’s publishing. We are celebrating National #PictureBookMonth this November by looking back on our picture book successes of the past year, and we are so thankful to work with our talented artists and outstanding publishing partners. Here is a little look at all the fabulous books that published this year, and see more of the amazing books that published in 2016 by clicking here.
We are excited for 2017, and to see some more of our artist’s fantastic work in bookstores and libraries throughout the USA. And on a personal note, there is much to be grateful for this year in the Bright USA office!
Alli Brydon, Managing Agent
“I am thankful to come to work every day doing something I love and that I feel is important—with an amazing, supportive team at Bright USA and UK, the highest caliber of artists, and the most wonderful publishing colleagues. I feel so lucky to have found the children’s book world.
Thanksgiving is also a time to celebrate the love and joy of family, and I am thankful for my husband, Ed, and two kids, Alex and Rhys, who fill my life with giggles and hugs!
And right now I am also thankful to be living in the northeast, where the colors of the autumn season are in full force so my world looks like a beautiful painting.”
James Burns, Senior Agent
“If I stop for a second to think about what I have to be thankful for, I become overwhelmed with all the little pleasures. What rises to the top of the list? I am most thankful to have been given the opportunity to live and work stateside, representing the leading portfolio of talent in the #kidlit space, being able to engage the most compassionate, warm and enthusiastic editors, designers and ADs that are all striving to make a difference to the youth of today and tomorrow.
Their energy and commitment to publishing will never cease to amaze me. I’m thankful to be surrounded by people who care!”
Anne Moore Armstrong, Bright US Agent
“Beyond my family and friends, I am thankful for simple indulgences like dark chocolate and dark roast at my local coffee spot. But most of all working with unbelievably talented creatives who bring joy and color into my life. And of course, I am very thankful for Charlie, my best bud dog by my side!”
Isabella Jaye, Publishing Assistant
“There are so many things to be thankful for this year! To start with, I’m grateful for my family, friends, and the opportunity to live and work in such a thrilling city.
To be able to come to the office with a smile on my face because I get to work with some of the greatest artists and agents in the children’s illustration world is an honor. My first 6 months at Bright have been filled with beautiful art! I’m also thankful for warm sweaters in the winter (I’m from San Francisco!), long wanders through Central Park, and pumpkin donuts.”
