Pretty as a Picture: Becca Stadtlander and Anthropologie
Becca Stadtlander‘s beautiful, painterly illustration style combines high-quality, hand-rendered craftsmanship – and the sense of nostalgia that evokes in a relentlessly digital age – with a thoughtful, contemporary vision and air of sophistication that is a perfect fit for the bespoke stylings of our unfailingly-fabulous client, Anthropologie!
Her gorgeous, indulgent designs are beautifully showcased in one of Anthropologie’s new calendars for 2016. These ‘Collections’ of everyday objects, such as playing cards and pin cushions, are rendered items of fascination and rarity by Becca’s skilful hand, and each month introduces a new category of intriguing artefacts to explore:
In addition to this stunning calendar (one very good reason to wish the days away in order to turn to the next month’s wonderful artwork!), Anthropologie have also taken Becca’s designs to the kitchen with a rather special tea towel (see below): doing the dishes is suddenly a whole lot more appealing!!
Luxurious floral arrangements and still life’s have also been an important component of the artist’s recent designs for Bright Art Licensing, and a clutch of these are included here to give a flavour of the beauties among her portfolio!
Becca’s work has also featured on stationery & home decor products, as well as many young adult and children’s books and editorial publications: she captured brilliantly the fresh spring cherry blossom and ‘parklife’ of Battersea for the Summer edition of the Art & Design Licensing Sourcebook, which also showcased amongst its pages the work of no less than 17 other talented Bright artists!
Born and raised in Covington, Kentucky, Becca later attended the Maryland Institute College of Art, earning a BFA in Illustration. She moved to New England in 2012 and now lives and works in Newport, Rhode Island.
